We have that same problem here.  I don't know if it's due to loud
music, daydreaming or just general stupidity, but Toronto drivers
(some of the worst I've encountered anywhere, BTW) seem to think that
a 120 decibel siren on an emergency vehicle means "maintain your
course, keep driving in the lane you're in at the speed you're going".
 Then there are those that think it's a good idea to pull into the
slipstream of passing emergency vehicles so they can pass all the
suckers (only about 10% of vehicles on the road) who actually did pull
to the right and stop.
