If you can find an A 600 f/5.6, it is a very good performer.
A used Tamron 300 ƒ2.8 AF SP with a Tamron 2x Pz-AF TC gives you a 600
ƒ5.6 with AF for 1/2 of what an A 600 ƒ5.6 would cost, and "might" be
just as good with sharpness, maybe not as good CA.
