AND....  looking at this site you sent ,  I scrolled down to find  a
1942 Studebaker President Skyway Land Cruiser

Which is, in fact, the car we had back then..... although I never doubted that, I actually could remember the name... I forgot that new cars come out the year before their date... so I dind't think to look at 1942 cars before - I also didnt have the full name in my memory - "skyway land cruiser" was probably something I never even heard anyone say.

Looks like a late 30s Studebaker coupe ... based on what I can see of the grill & headlights; the hood ornament and the grill trim extending down the side of the hood; the tail light with the license plate mounted above it.

My guess is a 1937 Studebaker Dictator Business Coupe.
