De: John Sessoms <[email protected]> I was not impressed with
the Eneloops. Other than not having to pre-charge them - a one
time bonus, they didn't offer any additional practical
performance advantage over the Duracell or Energizer
rechargeables and that at the cost of having to carry an
additional special charger that I couldn't use for my other rechargeable batteries.

I always thought that the Eneloops (and their later imitations)
competitive advantage was that they keep the charge for months
instead of the few weeks (if you are lucky) that you get from regular
NiMHs (although these last longer in an intesive shooting session). That's why they can be sold charged...

That's why I call selling them charged a "one time bonus".

I don't need them to hold a charge while they sit for months. I needed something to power the camera that would give me a reasonable number of shots before having to be replaced.

None of the NiMh batteries would do that, including the Eneloops.

I don't blame the batteries for not having enough power, and I don't blame Pentax for making a camera that needs more power than these batteries can provide.

I just use the batteries that work best for me in that camera.
