"Is it Possible to Charge eneloop with
Other Manufacturers’ Chargers?"

"No, we do not recommend it. Neither the construction
nor the characteristics of both battery and charger are
the same. Accordingly, we do not recommend that other
manufacturers’ batteries be charged with Sanyo chargers."

Hence the "having to carry an additional special charger".
I consider that a disadvantage not offset by them being sold pre- charged.

I have been cheerfully ignoring that recommendation (as I didn't even KNOW about it) and using my Rayovac 1-hour NiMh charger with my Eneloops for a couple of years now, with no ill effect.

I would propose you do the same and ignore the "please oh please use our brand of charger" recommendation from Sanyo. It is unnecessary. They just don't want to be held responsible if you charge 'em with some pile of junk charger and kill the batteries. A decent charger will be just fine, no matter the brand.

Just like "only use Texaco oil in your new car" kind of advice. Unnecessary.
