You wouldn't say perfect or highest possible fideility is overrated
if you heard some of the worlds greatest recordings
in all their glory. Music and Musical Intruments
have incredibly beautiful sound, most sound systems
are not even close to that beauty or even quasi-realistic
sound. I suggest you go hear the finest recordings
on the finest audio system you can find and get
back to me about it being overrated. The sound of the
of music matters. Its not everything, I'd take great
music with bad sound over bad music with good sound
but when the music and the sound is great, then
your at another whole level, a much higher level, of emotion.

continuing my analogy, i love a lot of classic street photography; many
of the best shots have technical "flaws" and in some notable cases the
printing process was also seemingly haphazard; yet the blur, the grain,
the blown highlights often add to the result, and i'm perfectly content
with many "imperfect" photos; i'm even happy with old prints i find here

and there with scuffs, smudges, scratches, dents and dings; that's one
kind of photo i seek out

perfect fidelity is overrated; the recording process always leaves its
mark, and those who strive to hide that mark represent only one branch
of the fullness of the art form
