Shel...

What have I learned? Well, beyond a great many things so far that make me go
"HUMMMMM," I will forever remember that when the LX was introduced it started at 1600
ASA and moved to 3200, not from 3200 to 6400 which was pointed out recently. That's
one I won't even have to write down.

All I can say is it's disheartening to realize that my affliction is not unique. Many
people around the world suffer from Pentaxitis (a rare form of the dreaded
Asahispotmaticaphore strain). There is no cure it seems that although it's symptoms
are usually mild and affect one's bank account more that one's mucus membranes it's a
disease that nonetheless should be researched.

This list functions as a kind of group therapy for us suffers. It is a safe harbor for
those who get physically ill imagining having to take pictures with a C**** or a
N****. Further, thoughts of using an O****** or a M****** send us into such fits that
we're foced to recite mantras such as, "My camera is finer, I know this to be true! My
camera is finer, I know this to be true!" and then rush to read the 7th edition of
Keppler's "The Pentax Way" just to calm down.

It good to know we are not alone out there. It helps us sleep.

So, Shel, although photography, like any other art form, is an intensely subjective
experience, I still need to point out a couple of things that I have learned here (in
no particular order) as long as you remember that it's the disease talking and not
hold me responsible for anything:

1. Pentax is a brand of cameras and lenses. They make good ones. Except of course for
the 85mm f2.

2. MLU is nice feature to have. If it's not on your camera you will break out in boils
and grow hair in funny places.

3. MACRO photography refers to photographs at high magnification. Wedding photography
refers to photographs of crazy people and their relatives.

4. Many people debate the virtues of different slide films. Most are surprised to
learn that Kodachrome looks better than all of them...and it's been around since
shortly after the earth cooled.

5. Most photographs can be handled with a 50mm lens and a camera with no meter.

6. Wood Herman and Woody Allen are both jazz musicians.

7. People who don't own a Pentax LX (either the old model with no roller and a top ASA
of 1600 or the newest LX 2000) have the worst form of Pentaxitis.

I feel better now...;-()
