Rob, Tan, Cotty .... thanks!

Eureka! I found Movie maker... (I DO have XP) Looked like fun ... thought
I was getting it.. but couldnt find
any controls for things like brighten or color changes etc.. and I did
look at the help menu. Any clues about that? If I "make" the movie, does
it get saved as another type (get a different file extension) from AVI ?

Hi Ann,

Sorry, I assume you've managed to drop the video into the "story
board" edit section underneath the collections? Once the movie is in
the edit window you can right click your mouse and apply any number of
video effects including brightening or darkening.

Often I forget about the magic of right clicking.. Eureka again! -- I also see that I could take the entire 40 second file and apply the brightening repeatedly - I did it 3 times and got the desired exposure... I took the whole 40 seconds and made the WMV, loaded it to smug mug and played it... it is very tiny and I now need to discover how to delete the sound track because the TV was on when I took this
little film... and I want to lop off the last 5 seconds...

Once you have got
the results you want in the preview window you can go up to the file
menu the select save movie and a wizard will guide you through. The
movie will be saved as a WMV which most video players can play. If you
need it in AVI format it's easy enough to convert using freeware
tools, but I won;t go into that at this point.

Cheers,

Now back to my Inspector Alleyn Mysteries from Netflix :)
