I decided to try a semiformal test of shake problems in my K-x, both with and without shake reduction on. I started at 1/200 second and increased the shutter speed up to 0.8 seconds.

ISO 200, FA 31, shot from about 30"
With shake reduction off it was only steady down to about 1/13 second
With shake reduction on it was steady down to about 0.3 seconds
Two versions of each, one is the full shot, one is cropped in tight.

D'oh!
