Have you tried opening the file in Preview and printing from there? I can't
say I've ever had a problem but I don't have Adobe Reader on my Mac and I have
a similar printer to yours.

I've never needed Adobe Reader for anything PDF on my Mac until I
encountered some Gov of Canada forms-based documents that couldn't be
opened in anything but Adobe Reader. What a steaming mound. I'll be
uninstalling A.R. as soon as possible.
So I agree with Dave: try *not* using Adobe Reader.
