I do the above all the time, it is very basic. <http://guides.macrumors.com/Taking_Screenshots_in_Mac_OS_X> I have to save receipts for parking etc - I snap the receipt with my iPhone, email it to myself, retrieve on the Mac, and drag and drop into a Word document.
