There's an interesting psychology in the consumer. It seems that people rarely change brands, and often become brand-dependant as a sense of personal security and fulfillment. A product of Madison Ave. and our culture of consumerism and greed.
Get a cell phone from provider #1 & you won't like change to provider #2 without good reason. Like really poor service. Get a car of make X and you'll always hate make Y. (Note the regular poking fun between Chevy & Ford owners, the pride of MB & BMW owners, and the condension toward us who drive "rice burners".) Camera owners are the same. Look at the newsgroups and the sparring between Canon & Nikon owners, and the arrogance of Leica & Contax owners. Blad owners look down on Fuji, Mamiya & Pentax, but Each of them knows the real truth. Some Linhof users won't lower themselves to using a Toyo, but maybe an Arca-Swiss. Bender is for beginners. But Toyo users sure got the best bargain, Arca-Swiss users got the best engineering, and Bender builders know every little nuance of the unit's behavior. The psychology is amazing to watch in action. But to the question: I'm happy with Pentax 35mm. There's no cause to change. In roll film, my Spartaflex sold new in the 30s for about $30 or so. Not much to look at, but it's just for fun. In 4x5, well, Pentax isn't in that arena...yet. Collin -- . ----------------------- "Cats are evil incarnate. They are only your friend until someone makes a better offer.
