Subject: zoom or crop?

I'm curious if other people who had a limited choice of focal lengths as they learned photography share this trait.

On the contrary, I'd guess that people who learned photography either shooting slides, or without access to a darkroom (or post processing software) are a lot more finicky about composing in the camera.

Or it could be that I'm just lazy when I know that if I blow it I can just fix it later.

I learned photography with a 4.5cm lens on a Fujica rangefinder (made in ~1955).
To this day, I do none to very little cropping in post.
About the only think I've shown on list (ever) that has been cropped was my recent pictures from the nice apartment, and they were cropped due to the necessity of doing a little bit of perspective correction in post.

I discovered early on that I was too lazy to crank the enlarger up and down, so I learned to get what I wanted in the viewfinder, since I would probably not do it later.
