The TTL flash in my dear departed Super A gave me no complaints,
ranging from perfect exposure to slight underexposure and only rarely
overexposing. Of course that was true TTL not P-TTL.

Not being familiar with P-TTL, I'm curious to know if it meters in the
same pattern as the camera is set to for ambient metering, or if it
has its own pattern independent of the camera's ambient lightmeter. I
wonder if John's camera was set to spot metering , which would be a
bit unpredictable for flash metering which should be either
centre-weighted or averaging.

Wide-angle lens use also gives relatively deep, dark backgrounds that
can throw the exposure out.

regards, Anthony
