I have one of these. It produces great scans, but it is slow. The problem isn't so much transferring USB data to the computer, it's the actual scan process that's slow. If you're using Windows XP, I'd expect it to work even on a new computer. If you're using Vista or Windows 7, you might have trouble getting drivers, but I haven't tried it. If you're not using a Windows-based OS, I don't know what the chances are. :-)
