I'm planning to set up a laptop-based workstation at home. My wife is working

So, any experience with the 24in ACD to share? It's expensive, but by the time
I buy a docking station (which will be obsolete when I update my laptop in a
couple of years) it's cheaper than alternatives.
i don't have one (i have its DVI predecessor, with which i'm quite
happy), but i infer from your message that you have an older laptop --
if so, and its video output is DVI, you will need a somewhat expensive
converter to use the Mini DisplayPort on this display, something like
this Geffen product (an example, not a recommendation):

the only other caution is that it's glossy, so you will have to control
your environment carefully; my 13" laptop is glossy, and at this time of
day my desk is sunny -- the reflection of the sun on my face makes the
display hard to see in parts (i'm wearing a dark shirt thankfully), but
causes no problem with the matte surface of my 23" Cinema HD
