the 24 inch is (well, "was", but still available refurb from Apple sometimes, an new old stock elsewhere) much the same configuration as the 27" -- both are LED backlit, glossy, Mini DisplayPort units which are also able to serve as power supplies for Apple laptops; the 27" however requires a dual-link DVI to Mini DisplayPort converter, which is more expensive than the unit i mentioned needed for the 24"; only example i could find was an Altona unit (again, not a recommendation):
