Dust alert doesn't work with some lenses. Don't know why. 
Sounds like your sensor needs cleaning. Try blowing it off with an ear cleaning 
bulb. If that doesn't work, use the Pentax gummy stick or some other heavy duty 
cleaning kit. Don't ad lib.
