Hmmm. Evidently I am very ignorant. Isn't there any area in New Zealand
that is more quiet?

Andorra or Vatican come to mind. May be Lichtenstein :-). Granted I like
small places (*) having lived in Moscow, USSR for 20 years :-).
We've been through the worst of it and a few small aftershocks aren't
likely to cause too much concern other than a little lost sleep.
Maybe we'll get another big one during my lifetime but now I have far
more confidence in our ability to withstand it.
Indeed, experience is most important. No argument here.
