Crazy indeed. We have ongoing drought for several years now, but not
as serious as you do. The prices of water are growing steadily and
rapidly but so far they managed to avoid setting up a daily allotment
of water. They were talks about the progressive taxation, whereas
after certain amount of consumed water the prices would sky rocket
even faster, but so far they talked themselves out of this. Like you
and I said - crazy times.

It's not a drought if it's been ongoing for decades, it's climate.

For some reason I thought Israel was so short of natural water resources from many years ago that they got most of their water from desalinization of sea water.

I'm pretty sure Israelis are the world leaders in desalinization technology. They use it to provide for both human consumption and irrigation.

The source of the scarcity seems to be the population in Israel is growing faster than the necessary facilities to provide water can be built.
