I would set the file association to be Photoshop CS5 rather than any
version of Bridge. At least on Mac OS X, Bridge does not have a
"File->Open..." command at all, you tell it what folder (aka
directory) to browse using the "Folders" panel and it then provides
thumbnails/previews of various sizes for the files contained within
that folder.

Except that I'm not running Mac OS X.

In Windoze, double clicking a file icon should should open the program associated with that icon to the directory (folder) where the double clicked file is located.

Double clicking a JPEG file icon should open Bridge, causing it to open to the directory (folder) where that particular jpeg file is located.

The problem I'm having is it won't open Bridge CS5, it keeps wanting to open Bridge CS3. But from Bridge CS3, I haven't figured out how to open images in Photoshop CS5.

I can set the file association for JPEG to "Open with PHotoshop CS5", but then when I select "Browse in Bridge" from the Photoshop menu, it goes to the last directory I had open in Bridge, instead of going to the directory where the current file is located.

And that's the whole point, when I double click a file, I want Bridge CS5 to open to the directory where the file is located.

So we're back to square one. I'm beginning to think Adobe never heard the adage "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."
