yes; with an A lens open aperture metering is possible -- you can set the aperture on the camera (or let the camera set it? dunno since i never use Tv or P), avoid use of the green button, and the camera will meter the shot automatically as you compose; for that reason i usually prefer my A 50/2 over my M 50/1.4, and i have an A 50/1.7 on the way that may replace both (until i find a deal on an FA or DA)
