I've been using this lens/hood combination (and often as a one lens
solution) for years now without a problem. The worst that can happen
is that it pops off and becomes lost or it gets rotated unnoticed and
causes a slight vignette.

Ecke, mine is the Sigma Perfect Hood too, for 52mm diameter thread,
overall diameter is 68mm (excluding the release clips), the deep
petals are 33.5mm from the base excluding mount flange and the shallow
petals are 19.5mm from the base, there is no apparent model number
unfortunately.
