Christine,

My advice is always to not buy a new camera. BUT, if someone insists
on buying one, then I ask them to do so through my affiliate links.
The small commission I get helps ease the pain caused my advice being
ignored.

As for the pics, they look great from a noise/exposure/measurebator
point of view, but I can see why you'd like to be able to shoot at
speeds of 1/250 - 1/500s while achieving similar quality. As for
artistic merit, I did like this one:

Great composition, but I would use some Photo Fu on that yellow bar
coming out of your daughter's head. Then I'd convert to B&W, print 'n'
frame it and hang it up at work :-) There is some movement in her
arms that might or might not bother me (I'm undecided yet), but which
may lead you to think that a higher shutter speed might have been
desireable, hence the need for the K-5.

This one made me laugh:

It's so Boston to have this cute little girl go up to get a medal in
gymnastics wearing big snow boots :-D

Do congratulate her on her 1st place medal. Hopefully it's the first
of many, and her mum will end up with lots of similar photos.

Cheers,

   —M.
