Either that, or you just got a lot more slightly out of focus shots, and/or 
only shot in really bright light.

I've found that most of the time autofocus focuses as, or more, accurately than 
I can manually. Even with the katzeye.  I've also found that about a third of 
the time it focuses perfectly, on the wrong thing.
