Actually the measure is line PAIRS per millimetre so that doubles your required digital resolution to begin with, besides which you'd want much more than one pixel width to every line interval in order to record the subtle gradation from high to low density that characterises film behaviour. Don't drum scanners do about 10,000ppi? I hardly think the printing trade would throw their money away if 2,400ppi did as good a job.
