Before I learned to limit myself to B&H and Cameraworld (haven't tried Adorama
yet) I got burned three times by three different Pop Photo advertisers and ALL
THREE were "check rated". Coincidentally enough, one swore I was getting a U.S.
warranted PZ-1p and sold me a grey market Z1p (being a recently reborn
photographer I didn't know any better at the time and didn't figure it out until
too late). Fortunately it's been trouble-free for many years so I've never
needed warranty service.

The "check rated" system is, IMHO, a total farce. Any advertiser who pays for
enough advertising gets rated and how they do business seems to be irrelevant.

BTW: I *did* exact revenge one one of these "check rated" con artists, although
I'll decline to mention how in public. But I'll say it was Cambridge Camera,
widely recognized as being the worst of the worst as far as business practices
are concerned.
