Hi All,

My wife would like to hear what different photographers think
if this composition works or not:

She took this photo at a business event.

Second question is what would you do differently (change the
composition/crop..) - without moving/orchestrating people, -
so that it would look better.

Thank you in advance for all the response,

It works for what it is - showing interaction of the event's participants - and for how it was produced - point 'n shoot with on camera flash.

If she had stepped a little bit to her left, the reflection of the flash in the window behind the guy in the center wouldn't show up. And the perspective from that point might have grouped the three men slightly more closely together.

I suspect that after they finished laughing they all looked up for a second, and a shot at that instant might have caught them all with their eyes open.

But hind-sight is, as they say, 20:20.

I think the photo tells the story it's supposed to tell ... interaction among the event's participants.

So, yes; in my opinion the composition "works".

I looked through the rest of the set and they all have that "point 'n shoot with on camera flash" look to them. The lighting is a little harsh, often with those nearer the camera over flashed and those farther away under flashed.

I know they make snap-on diffusers for point 'n shoot cameras and even some devices to bounce the flash off the ceiling. If she could find one that fits her camera, that might make the lighting in her photos a little less harsh.
