True. I find that some of my rejections relate to the purpose of the image. I had two diner interiors that I really love rejected by Pentax. That made me take a hard look at them. They were taken for my diner blog, and both the original exposure and the modifications in PhotoShop were done with that in mind. They were structured to capture and display as much of the diner details as possible.
I realized that most viewers at the Pentax gallery are not interested in diners, except perhaps when they are hungry. I therefore re-processed the images to give more emphasis on the people in the shots, and to crop out some of the details that are interesting to a diner buff, but do not add to the composition of the image as an image. In the case of a shot inside a railway car style diner, I cropped out two tables of diners to bring the most interesting person in the frame to the forefront. That gave it broader interest and appeal, and it got into the Pentax Gallery after those revisions. I think that the challenge of getting image that I like in the Pentax Gallery serves a useful purpose, by making me rethink my decisions about an image I like and trying to find ways to improve it and give it broader appeal.
