Let me put this way - I believe that Asahi Corp. is more dependant on their photographic business than Canon, Nikon and Minolta are. C/N/M can afford to make mistakes and losses, at least for a short period. I doubt Pentax can do this, and this leads to a carefulness. Moving slowly forward. C/N/M can be more brave. To my knowledge, Pentax is making profit on their 35mm cameras. I believe better profit than the others, Canon being the possible exception. Why move fast and make a loss, when you can move slowly and make a profit? Anyway, Pentax is moving fast - in the entry level field. I didn't expected the MZ-60, this one was a surprise move. Looks like a re-designed Z-70 - almost same specs and handgrip... Oh well. Perhaps I switch my trusty MZ-10 to the new MZ-6, and buy the new -5n replacement when it arrives. But I don't really need to. I'm happy with what I got. As I've said many times - when I switched from P30 to the dazzling world of MZ, I got more options but my photography didn't improved a single bit. I think it made me more lazy, perhaps also less serious. A bit lomography sometimes... just shooting away, but getting everything sharp and nice thanks to the electronics. When I take "real" photos, I put my MZ-5N on my Manfrotto, plug in the cable remote release, switches to manual focus and spot metering or centre weighted. Then shoot away in a laid-back and controlled manner. I would love to have a MZ-S, because of it's looks and build quality. But I can't say that I need it, really... Some things are simply fun to have. :-) Best regards, Roland - This message is from the Pentax-Discuss Mail List. To unsubscribe, go to http://www.pdml.net and follow the directions.
