Thanks to everybody for your kind wishes.

We've had a couple of fairly strong ones since yesterday but they were minor in
the grand scheme, both below 5. We were sent home from work at lunch time, not
really sure why but it's a lovely day outside so I might have a nice walk to
the supermarket and pick up a couple of things we need.

Our water is back on and a boil-water notice is in effect across the whole city.

The aftershock we had overnight (4.7 at 2:48am) woke us both up and it also
ruptured a water main on the next street. That's been fixed now but the pool
of water looks slightly frothy which is a bad sign. I know the sewers on that
street are still in a bad way from February so the gushing water was probably
bringing sewage out with it.

We restocked on bottled water after last time so I've opened one of those
bottles to get started. It's one thing to boil all of your water but it does
have to cool before you can use it unless you want a hot drink. I've put an
upturned plastic mug over our bathroom tap again. It's an idea I came up with
last time after a couple of friends brushed their teeth with tap water out of
habit and became ill as a result.

All my friends & relatives seem to be OK but some people have a bit of cleaning
up to do. I know two people who had televisions fall over.

I'm coping with this one very well but I know that a lot of the city's
residents are finding it hard. They'd just finished cleaning up after February
and then it happens again and we're reset back to square one. There seems to
be much less aftershock activity this time around and I'm quite relaxed.

BTW that Onion link was great :)

Cheers,
Dave
