I can always find something to focus on. I only rarely shoot
featureless white walls ... and why does focusing matter in those
situations anyway? ;-)

This is why I generally prefer manual focus and use most AF systems as
a "one time get close, then tweak with manual focus for critical
accuracy, and stay there"

I want the camera to do what *I* tell it, I don't what it to tell me
what it wants to do. Manual focus always does exactly what I tell it
to ... I might be wrong, but then I don't blame the camera.
