Hi Shel, the best way is to use encryption like PGP. It is even possible to send a self-decrypting exe file which contains text or anything, and you would tell the password to this file to the other pary by phone. Or if they have their own public key, that's even better. no need to transmit passphrase by any way. Otherwise, e-mail is easy to compromise e.g. on your ISP's server, although there are such loads of it it would be really paranoid thinking they are after yours emails specifically. Even the darn FBI have hard time decoding PGP encryption :)
