i should mention that i know i can trawl the lens database at pentaxforums.com — it's useful, though it needs better curation — what i'm wondering is if someone has compiled a quick reference of pentax-compatible lenses "worth having"

There are aficionados scattered around the internet with reviews of various K mount lenses, but a comprehensive listing. Not so much. I've been working on reviews of the third party lenses in K mount that I've used or owned and my opinions of them, but I'm far from finished. Hum, I'll have to get back to that sometime. I also did a somewhat in depth comparison of the Second and Third versions of VIvitar S1 70-210mm lenses, that I think is available in the archives. Both are well worth having. The third version since it was never released in an A version is often available for less than $50.00 and gives very nice images even on 14mp sensor cameras. It doesn't see a lot of use since I have the Second version and a F 70-210 f4.0~5.6 both of which are much more convenient to use.

Don't lose heart! They might want to cut it out, and they'll want to avoid a
lengthily search.
