I've got used to having the extra shutter release for portriat orientation; if I use a camera without the grip I have to make a conscious effort to find the shutter release (and making adjustments with the camera to my eye is far less convenient). I did take the grip off my *ist-D to make a walk-around outfit (with the 18-55 kit lens). But a lot of the time with the K-5 I'm using larger, heavier lenses such as the 60-250 (and the 80-200 before that), so the extra weight isn't too much of an issue. Plus the fact that I like the extra battery capacity as a backup (although with the K-5 that's nowhere near as much of an issue as with the *ist-D, which could go through a set of batteries in maybe a quarter of the time those in the K-5 last. The storage slot for an extra SD card is a benefit, too. -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List [email protected] http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
