It's nice to know that I'm not the only person who doesn't like the "magic fingers". As far as loading, as a lot of others have said once getting the film in the fingers I advance until the top of the film is on the take up reel then rewind lightly to taught the film, close the back, and advance 2-3x watching the rewind knob to make sure it's turning. Having lost a couple of good shots early in my shooting career to trying to squeeze a couple extra frames out of a roll. I make sure the film is secure on the take up reel.
