I think you can really overthink this, but that's just my opinion. If your monitor calibration tool dials you in to the point where what you see on your screen is virtually the same as what your printer delivers, you're golden. I've been able to accomplish that with an old Spyder 2 Express and my Epson 2880. I suspect that one can do the same with most calibration tools.
