Bruce, I agree about the confusion. As for the blog, - I am not a blogger, and don't go after traffic. Besides, - I'd better sit down and write what I actually need to right for my work. (at least 2 journal articles and a bunch of other things) :-) Mon Jan 2 19:00:05 EST 2012 Larry Colen wrote: > In short, my feeling is that 99% of the benefit will be obtained by > doing any sort of reasonably competent calibration. My need is exactly what you described. The problem was that I was stuck in a state of Buridan's donkey: there were several different models whose names and differences (even within one company) were confusing (and hence all choices - almost equal, except for the price). E.g. how does one line up "i1 Display 2", "i1 Display Pro", "i1 Pro", "i1 Basic Pro", "i1 Xtreme", .... Bruce expressed that nicely: "I was bewildered by the number of discontinued models". Some of the information that I included in my original message is indeed superfluous, but to realize that I needed to sort things out. The reason I kept that information in the message is that I remember that several people on the list (Darren, Steve, ...) were also interested in purchasing a calibrator, - so I thought my findings might be useful to them.
