Hi Christine: What a fun idea! I agree about focussing more on composition,
especially if P&S will be used. The first time I took my littlest nephew out,
he was probably 8 or 9ish. I set the K10D to jpeg and program, explained what
a photo walk was, and told him to shoot anything his little heart desired. His
pictures totally amazed me! They were great! So playful!

Someone mentioned getting the kids to learn how to look at what they've shot
and to help them learn from the pictures they took--that seems like a good
approach. Also, maybe work the class so that at the end they have a "final
portfolio" of what they think are their best shots. Totally keep it fun, as
you say. Create shooting assignments that allow the kids to discover what
genres they like to shoot best. Be sure to take pictures of the kids in the
field while they're shooting! Good to use for promotional materials for your
business, and the parents will like them as well. Keep us posted on how it's
going. Wishing you a great class! Cheers, Christine/Chicago
