I don't think that's important to the target audience for the K-01, which is basically young iPhone owners - people whose only camera has always been their phone. What do they care if a camera can accept a whole lot of lenses they don't own? Now if you tell them that they can buy lenses for their mirrorless camera and those lenses will also work on the SLR they might want to upgrade to in a few years, that's potentially attractive. By making your camera accept lots of different lens mounts you're appealing to *photographers*, most of whom already own lenses. By making your mirrorless and SLR cameras use the same lenses you're appealing to the cellphone-shooting newbie who doesn't like the idea of buying new lenses when he gets an SLR (which is what most of them still hope/expect to buy eventually when they feel ready to deal with the perceived complexity). Pentax may have made a really good choice here. Or maybe not - time will tell. But they probably didn't have the financial resources to do anything else. -- Mark Roberts - Photography & Multimedia www.robertstech.com -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List [email protected] http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
