i can't answer your question, i can only say that an 50mm A 1.7 has become my default lens; for me aside from the image quality, which i find to be excellent, i like the the constraint, simplicity, small size and low cost of replacement
however i haven't yet had much time with small lenses at other focal lengths (i have a good 28mm, but lack of A contacts makes it less comfortable for me); i plan to invest in the new 35/2.4 and an old Adaptall 24/2.5 to find out ...
