Lr4 is now upgrading my InProgress catalog ... that's about 79,000
images so I expect it will take a little while yet before i see the
memory dynamics of using it. ;-)

However, where do you have your catalog folder? What's your free space
like on the startup volume where Lr is located? I've not found Lr3 to
do a paging frenzy except when free space on the startup volume is too
tight ... I always keep 100-200 G free space on the startup volume. My
catalog folders are always on the startup volume, my image files are
on an external volume.
