To those on the Pentax Prices thread as well... What is really sad is the general public's idea that the camera makes the photographer...I often have people look at my photographs and say, "Nice picture...you must have a really nice camera!" - Ouch! I wonder if people realize how harsh that is....you know, "Nice painting...you must have great paint!"
I love to debate cameras with my fellow photographers....I've been using Pentax for a while, and I sold it pretty fiathfully here in Boise. It drives them nuts! They use N or C and I give them a hard time about using a Mercedes or BMW of cameras - nice, but the parts are expensive etc - and they, in turn, give me grief for using Pentax. We all know, however, that its the person behind the camera that makes all of the difference...glass, speed, blah, blah, just make it a little easier, or help us capture a moment with a little less work. Without a photographer behind the camera, it mights as well be a boat anchor. I've shown potential customers photos of the same subject made with a C EOS3, N F100, M Maxxum(?), and a Pentax ZX-5. You could see the steam begin to curl out of thier ears as they tried to figure out which camera made a better picture (the lenses were all 35-80 4-5.6 standard or similar). Its fun to throw in a photo from a Pentax 90WR. That really gets them! :) (Deep breath) So...companies can do whatever turns thier crank, but in the end many photographers like cameras they can use to drive nails...personally I don't, but it still won't make a better photograph.
