Quoting Ann Sanfedele <[email protected]>:
sorry not to partake in chat much right now guys - need your expertise now
I've been dealing with this for a while but I can't believe there
isn't a way to fix it.
When I open raw PEF files in Elements the exposures hardly have to
be adjusted - if at all.
However, I can't preview the PEF's in the open window in Elements SOOOO
I use ACDSEE for Pentax 3.0 - when I do that I can see the
thumbnails and browse and slide show and all that BUT the images are
always too dark - anywhere from 3 to 5 stops under in camera terms.
I don't want to tamper with the raw files in ACDSEE - I've fished
around for a viewing option of brightening but I cant find it..
I'm on windoze xp (thought that shouldnt matter) does anyone know
how to adjust ACDSEE without actually editing the images?
Thanks guys,
I can't help with your specific problem but I wonder if you could
bypass the issue by using the Pentax software. The latest version of
Pentax Digital Camera (4.35) is vastly superior to the crappy software
that issued with the early Pentax DSLRs.
Officially you're supposed to already have an install CD of version 4
to be able to use the update but it's not difficult to bypass that.
PJ outlined the method a few weeks ago, but to save having to go
searching the archives, here's what he said:
"If you don't have an earlier version of PDCU4 simply burn a CD with
the label "S-SW90" with the "update" file on it, and run the update
from there. The camera utility works with all PEF files from every
Pentax camera from the *ist-D to the 645D. The only one I don't think
it works with is the Q which Pentax supplies with a cut down version
of Silkypix."
If you think this might be a useful alternative to the Elements/ACDSEE
method, here's the download link:
