Actually I had a similar problem with two different file viewers in Win2K. One was using a setting in the OS, the other ignored it and used it's own setting. It was a PITA to figure out what was going wrong. The problem could be in an OS setting. For the life of me I can't remember what it was or I'd suggest changing it, also I can't remember where Win2K hid it let alone where it's hiding in WinXP.

Ann. Its been a few years since i used ACDSEE but i'm sure there was
something in there for that. I used ot print off thumbs for clients to
look at, have a look around the tool bars.

HOpe springs eternal but..

If you can't find anything elsse use infanview, it has a built in
thumbnail viewer. It's a free download, works fine. Previews are from
the imbedded jpeg in the PEF file as far as I can tell. You can set up
to three external editors to open a file with. The interface can be a
little clunky but hey it's free.

I've been dealing with this for a while but I can't believe there
isn't a way to fix it.

When I open raw PEF files in Elements the exposures hardly have to be
adjusted - if at all.

However, I can't preview the PEF's in the open window in Elements SOOOO

I use ACDSEE for Pentax 3.0 - when I do that I can see the thumbnails
and browse and slide show and all that BUT the images are always too
dark - anywhere from 3 to 5 stops under in camera terms.

I don't want to tamper with the raw files in ACDSEE - I've fished
around for a viewing option of brightening but I cant find it..

I'm on windoze xp (thought that shouldnt matter) does anyone know how
to adjust ACDSEE without actually editing the images?

Thanks guys,

ann

Don't lose heart, they might want to cut it out, and they'll want to avoid a
lengthly search.
