What I'm reading is that no one knows if there is a tool within ACDSEE to brighten all the thumbnails and enlargements when previewing - since everyone suggests I use something else.

HOpe springs eternal but..

Guess I'll try Igor's suggestion first. can't remember why, but
I think I had some problem with infanview once.

thanks for suggestions guys

If you can't find anything elsse use infanview, it has a built in
thumbnail viewer. It's a free download, works fine. Previews are from
the imbedded jpeg in the PEF file as far as I can tell. You can set up
to three external editors to open a file with. The interface can be a
little clunky but hey it's free.

I've been dealing with this for a while but I can't believe there
isn't a way to fix it.

When I open raw PEF files in Elements the exposures hardly have to be
adjusted - if at all.

However, I can't preview the PEF's in the open window in Elements SOOOO

I use ACDSEE for Pentax 3.0 - when I do that I can see the thumbnails
and browse and slide show and all that BUT the images are always too
dark - anywhere from 3 to 5 stops under in camera terms.

I don't want to tamper with the raw files in ACDSEE - I've fished
around for a viewing option of brightening but I cant find it..

I'm on windoze xp (thought that shouldnt matter) does anyone know how
to adjust ACDSEE without actually editing the images?

Thanks guys,

ann
