Base 4-core Mac Pro box: $2500. > and I'd really > like to be able to cram a lot more storage in my computer, rather than > having it hang off the outside. > > Granted, USB 3 looks like it makes a huge difference. I'm not into desk-side boxes anymore. I don't care to open those things up, fight with cabling, vacuum dust out of fans and off of boards to prevent heat buildup, etc. That said, if I was editing video professionally I'd be looking seriously at a 12-core Mac Pro for sure. A base iMac for $1200 plus an external Firewire or Thunderbolt drive or two as time goes by is a very powerful system. Add an external rotatable monitor for photo editing (can't beat a 2-monitor setup) and the world's your oyster. -- -bmw -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List [email protected] http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
