Malawi is an amazing little country. If you find time for yourself at all, you HAVE to visit the underwater national park in Lake Malawi. There's a place called Cape Maclear, North of Monkey Bay (after memory...), where there are scubadiving routes with guides to all the mbuna fish you can find. I don't do scuba, but spent days snorkeling there. The water is very clear, so you can observe most of the species, just by floating around. Among the cities I liked Zomba more than either Blantyre or Lilongwe. Possibly because a british bloke there recommended a restaurant up on a mesa, some 1000 meters above the valley bottom, with more pleasant temperature. So if you ever find you need refuge from the heat... :-) -They also serve a drink called Malawi Shandy, in pints, that is possibly worth the drive from Lilongwe to Zomba all by itself.
Hm... I realise Africa made a strong impression... I was there in 1990...
