More Nik weirdness: although the download page says you're fetching a
Lightroom-only version, what you end up with in fact is the Standalone
version. This is not a plugin for any specific software. This may be a
plus for some folks who don't have Ps, Lr or Aperture.
I could not find a way to open an image in it when running it as a
standalone. When running it within Aperture all is good.
And yes, it does say it's for Lightroom, but the installer gives you a
choice of which programme you want it to plug into. I chose Aperture.
Heh, when I ran the installer I wasn't given any options at all. I had
to hunt around to see where it had put the darned thing and when I
located it I found the readme that said it was the standalone version.
I'll try other tickboxes on the download page and see what I get.
So far, Color Efex Pro 3 is a bit dull. I'm applying it to a studio
shot and the filters are few (just 15) and mostly unexciting or *way*
overblown (eg Detail Stylizer, Solarization).
Glad I didn't save up to actually buy this stuff.
The mover & shaker in Color Efex Pro3 is the Dynamic Skin Softener.
All the rest is really just filler.
When you see those print ads where the model's skin is PhotoShopped to
hell & gone, that's Nik Dynamic Skin Softener.
Don't you mean skin tenderizer in that case?

Don't lose heart, they might want to cut it out, and they'll want to avoid a
lengthly search.
