It's worth the odd extraneous email from Nik to get a legitimate free copy of their plugins.

And they are a little bit odd. I used the same email address to register my paid for copy of the Complete Nik filters, but I still get a separate set of emails from Nik for the free copy of Color Efex Pro3

Someone posted the link to the free download of Color Efex Pro3 earlier. I don't know why I downloaded it since I already had a paid for copy of Color Efex Pro3 installed.

Well, not exactly paid for, I won my choice of Nik filters as a premium at a workshop I attended. Nik was one of the sponsors. My advisor at school suggested if you could only get one Color Efex Pro was the one to get. I bought the Complete Nik Filters at a trade show.

G'day all

Silver Exfex Pro is a well-regarded Photoshop filter to help with black and
white conversions. This is a legal download that might be useful to some,
but there are a couple of gotchas:

1. It's Version 1

2. You have to register with Nik software, so you can expect to receive the
odd email promotion in the future.

3. It's not a stand-alone program. You must have Photoshop or (I think)
Lightroom.

4. The download promotion is in German which, of course, is OK if you are
fluent in German. If not, go to this page to see how to get the deal for
the rest of us:

Note - I had a few problems at Step 3 where clicking on the download link
just took me to another German page. I eventually worked out what to do.
If you have the same trouble, I'll try to assist.

Brian,

Thanks for the link. They seem to have a download for Color Efex Pro
3.0 as well.
